I usually don't like to post pictures this early in the life of a painting, mostly because I'm often not even sure at this point of what it'll look like in the end! This time though, I'm giving you an early look so that you can see a painting from beginning to end. I usually start with a really thin layer of paint to mark out what I'm thinking of, as once the paint hits the metal leaf, there's no taking it back. When even the thinnest coat of paint goes on, the metal sheen is changed forever, even if I decide to remove that paint. This isn't always a bad thing - sometimes I'm going for that look - but this early, I don't want to have to decide!
