Back at it today! The babe’s getting over her bug and lounging around the studio as I figure out what this painting wants to be. So much of the fun for me is the process.. I start out with a vision and somehow the paintings always surprise me and turn into something a bit unexpected. This cloud and I have been having a bit of back and forth on how it should look, and I think we’re almost settled on something we can agree upon!! Follow along in stories 😘☁️
Painting has to wait this morning bc sick babies come first... balancing being an artist and stay at home mommy can often be a challenge but I’m so appreciative to have the opportunity. In the past I’ve let painting fall to the side and put myself last, but I’ve really come to realize that my studio practice is good for both me and my kids. I’m proud to give them an example of a mama who works to pursue her passion regardless of whether the house looks perfect, and I love giving them the opportunity to play together for awhile without mommy hovering over them. In the end, the kids needs do always have to come first and that’s just fine with me, but I’m so happy to be weaving my needs in these days as well! 🥰🎨☁️👧🏻👦🏼
I know I keep saying it but I am so grateful for this warm weather! I think I’m a different person (and much better mama!) when we can get outside for awhile each day! I’ve also been feeling so inspired to mix some warmth into the new paintings, this one featuring some touches of corals and pinks. I’ll share some updates on the newest large piece next week! Keep an eye on my stories in case I get antsy and can’t hold out 😘😘

I think spring is FINALLY on its way to DC! I am soo excited to be outside more and for the gorgeous cherry blossoms to arrive 🥰🌸 They might be my favorite thing about spring in DC!! This new painting is drying in my studio while I work on a few new big and small pieces, follow along in stories to see more, have a wonderful Monday! 😘
